Singer-songwriter John Denver touched millions of people. He also achieved the status of a superstar with his folk-based pop songs with a lot of them being set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and settled down in Aspen. Denver's state anthems are a source of inspiration for many to visit Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the hall's curator of fame, stated: "I don't believe there anyone else who has as much a connection to Colorado in the same way as John Denver." Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its the first member in 2011. Today he personifies the state to people around the world. If you travel with me, you will meet people on the other side of the planet. Like, for instance, people who is from New Zealand. And when you tell them you're originally from Colorado you will get "Oh John Denver!" Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief career as a folk musician which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff composed the track in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version of the song and realized the song would be a top 10 hit. The track was released just several weeks after it was performed in Washington D.C. performance.
